Tamaya Cafe — Restaurant in Imabari

This is one of the more modern-feeling cafes in Imabari, in a location where it doesn’t have too much competition. Staff are generally very friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. It seems to be a popular place for students from the nearby schools, who can often be seen doing their homework or refreshing themselves after sports practice. The pancakes here are good if a little expensive, with an eggier taste than some might be used to. Kakigori is their specialty, with a wide assortment of flavours and toppings available. It’s not the cheapest kakigori you’ll find, but you get a good amount - easily enough for two people to share one. I’ve had the green tea one, which was nice enough, and the strawberry, which was a bit too sweet for my tastes. There are various other meals and cakes in the menu, but nothing substantial for vegetarians. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax with a coffee in this part of town, Tamaya Cafe is definitely a very good option, but there are better cafes...

Really nice-looking space with lots of room. My cafe latte was a little disappointing as it was rather weak, but it was nice that it came with an Italian cookie. I opted for breafast for lunch, going for the pizza toast - I forgot to check about meat content and it came loaded with wiener sausages which I had to remove.

本店は大好きでよく通っていました。 今は県外在住なので、帰省時くらいしか行けませんが… そんな玉屋さんがおしゃれなカフェをオープンしたというので、今回の帰省時に行ってきました。 お店は広くておしゃれ、夜9:00まで営業しているので夜カフェにももってこいです。 駐車場は停めやすいし10台あるので◎

なんですが、肝心のかき氷が薄くてやたら甘いというか薄ら甘いというか… いちご＋ミルクで注文したのですが、以前に比べていちごの種のつぶつぶ感もかなり少ないし、薄めて砂糖水足して作ってるんじゃないかという感じの味わいでした。 いちごも農作物ですから、たまたまそういういちごが当たってしまったのかもしれませんが…

あとはピザトースト。つ、冷たい☃ 彩りはきれいで美味しそうなのですが、具が冷たい。チーズも全くとろけていません。 かろうじてパンの耳周辺があったかいかな、という程度。 ピザトーストなんて熱々でなんぼの食べ物では？？

あとは個人的な要望ですが、かき氷はあとにしますかくらいの配慮は欲しかったです。 かき氷が先に出て、三口くらい食べたところでピザトーストが出てきました。 熱々のピザトーストだったらかき氷食べてる間に冷めて残念なことになってしまいます。（まぁ結果的にピザトーストが冷たかったので関係なかったですが）
