Disappointment with a View – Beer Garden Ishigaki (石垣牛ビアガーデン スカイ)

When you think of dining in Ishigaki, you imagine fresh local ingredients, warm hospitality, and a breezy island experience—not literally battling the breeze to cook your food.

We walked into Beer Garden Ishigaki (石垣牛ビアガーデン スカイ) around 6 PM without a reservation. Fair enough—they told us we had to be out by 7. We agreed, expecting a quick but pleasant meal. What followed was rushed, overpriced, and honestly just frustrating.

We ordered two BBQ platters, with other dishes totaling of 9k yen expecting premium Ishigaki beef to shine. What we got instead was mediocre meat served with a side of windburn and disappointment. They provided a small gas stove for grilling, but it was so windy we couldn’t even get a consistent flame. At one point, we used the laminated menu as a shield, then gave up and used our own bodies to block the wind just to cook something.

To make things worse, they told us they ran out of shrimp—only for us to watch the next table get served a fresh plate of shrimp minutes later. The other dishes we ordered crawled out of the kitchen, and despite the delays, the staff still expected us to finish by 7, as if time slowed down only for us.

For the price and the hype, this place fails to deliver. The food was underwhelming, the service disorganized, and the overall experience left a bad taste in our mouths. Unless you enjoy being rushed, overpaying, and doing wind acrobatics to cook your meal—skip this spot. There are...

Misleading image in their digital menu. Ordered 2 BBQ plates for 2 people expecting 2 portions what were shown in the image.

We ended up getting only what it's shown in the picture, only the shrimps were doubled portioned, no chicken or sausages, the amount of meat were not doubled. And the waiter insisted that's two BBQ plates. Not to mention the substandard meat quality.

Very bizarre place, my first ever disappointment dining in Japan.

Complained to one of the waitresses as I thought it's technically illegal to use an image like this to sell what's actually much less. She offered me free chicken and waived our cover charge but still the chicken was supposed to be included.

Unorganized, misleading menu, poor quality of food, unprofessional staff.

Please stay away from this place, spend the money on any Izakaya or ramen...

Je vous déconseille fortement cet endroit nous voulions juste boire un verre, le personnel nous a placé à la table la plus au fond de la vue alors que nous étions les seuls clients ok nous n’avions pas réservé mais le restaurant était vide ! Nous avons pris une bière et un verre de vin le verre de vin est arrivée dans un verre à soda bref le total faisait 1000y ils nous a apporté 2 assiettes d’apéritifs nous en voulions pas et l’avons signalé et surprise à la fin nous avons été facturé 2200 ils nous a dis que s’était les charges pour la table j’ai jamais vu une arnaque pareil donc au final nous avons payé plus cher les charges de la tables et les taxes que nos boissons vraiment je vous déconseille cet endroit.
