Churayado Ishigaki — Hotel in Ishigaki

It was my first time staying at a local Japanese inn but I was curious about the prospects and gave it a try. This place did not disappoint.

The fellow residents were nice and received me well; the room was really small but it was comfortable and clean; every basic need from vacuum cleaners to sanitized wipes to free washing machines and cooking utensils; the shower was great and quite private, the toilet had the modern bidet washer and the traditional potty.

There are clear rules on when the common room should be closed for the night to allow residents to sleep peacefully in a quiet and cool environment. I must say that in this blistering heat, the consistent coolness of the entire inn, as a result of continuously operated fans and air conditioners, really added to the comfort of this place.

It is also important to say that I stayed for a whole month and never saw a bug in this establishment, if you've stayed in Ishigaki for even a day, you'd know that seeing no bugs in a building is a considerable feat.

I stayed here for a Golden Week vacation in Spring 2012 and we enjoyed our experience. For the dormitory style, the price is extremely right (1500/night), and the location puts you within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, shops, and night life. Be aware, though, that Ishigaki is a small town by Japanese standards, and a night out isn't quite much compared to bigger cities. Beaches are also close by, with Fusaki beach only about 10 minutes by taxi.||||As far as facilities go, this is no K's House. Like a lot of Japanese hostels I've seen, this place is pretty much thrown together, complete with dividing walls made of thin drywall held together with screws. A resort this is not, but you probably aren't looking for one if you're reading this.||||Bottom line: I recommend this place. Go with dormitory, not capsule rooms. 美ら宿石垣島最高だった！最高の思い出になり、帰る場所(家)になった！

美ら宿石垣島の好きなところ🏝🐠 ・家族みたいな出会いがある ・共有スペースが広いため自分の空間(時間)を確保できる

もちろんこの他にも【マンスリー契約が激安】【便利な立地→お土産街まで徒歩30秒、離島ターミナルまで徒歩5分、スーパーまで自転車で5分】【洗濯機無料】などもあるけど、やっぱりここはゲストハウス。人との出会いがいい思い出になりました！

『テレビがない』『壁が薄い』『常連客がうるさい』などの意見もありますが、それをプラスにとれる人がこの宿に向いてると思います！

確かにテレビはありません。でもテレビが無いから宿泊者同士の会話がより生まれるし、私はそれにより他ではできないここならではの経験ができました！

確かに壁も厚いとは言えません。ときには隣の人のいびきが聞こえてくることだってありました。でもそこではじめてわかった『静かに寝れる有り難み』。でもそれは耳栓で解決できたから全く問題なし。むしろ新しい気付きを得ることができたから全然おっけー🙆‍♂️✨

常連客がうるさい。これも捉え方次第で変わると思います。美ら宿石垣島にはマンスリー契約をされてる方がいらっしゃいます。いうなれば家です。その方を常連客と言うのであれば、私はうるさいとは感じませんでした。確かに、ときにはアホほど笑ったり、大きな声で喋ることもありました。でもさっきも書いたように、いろんな人がいろんな思いを抱えながらこの美ら宿石垣島を家としています(もちろん1泊、2泊の旅行者もたくさんいらっしゃいます)。家に居たらアホほど笑ったりすることもありますよね。そんなイメージです。決して騒いだりしてる訳ではないと思います。

かなり長くなってしまいましたが、3ヶ月お世話になったからこそ見える、美ら宿石垣島の良さを書かせていただきました！

国内外問わず宿泊するときは大体ゲストハウスですが、美ら宿石垣島はそんな中でもまた泊まりたい、また戻りたいと思えるゲストハウス！

もし石垣島でゲストハウスを探している方がいたら、1泊でも2泊でもいいので泊まってみてください！そしてちょぴり勇気がいるかもしれないけど、いろんな人に話しかけてみてください。喜んで皆さんを歓迎してくれると思うし、ガイドブックに載っていない地元民ならではの情報がたくさん手に入ります👍
