Baskin Robbins Izu-Kogen (サーティワンアイスクリーム 伊豆高原店) offers standout service, great flavors, and fun limited-time promos (like the One Piece collaboration). The irregular hours are a bit of a downside, but if you catch it open, it’s worth every yen and more—especially if you’re an ice cream lover.
Full Review:
There’s something unmistakably satisfying about stumbling into a familiar brand abroad and realizing—this version is better. Baskin Robbins Izu-Kogen (サーティワンアイスクリーム 伊豆高原店) is a perfect example of how Japan consistently elevates the fast and familiar into something charming, memorable, and delicious.
Let’s start with the staff: wonderful. Kind, welcoming, and helpful, even with language differences. The shop itself is clean and cheerful, and the service is fast, which makes it ideal whether you’re on a stroll through town or wrapping up a day trip.
What really added magic to the visit was their limited-time One Piece promotion, which felt like a full-on celebration for anime fans and dessert lovers alike. Themed cups, laminated character art, chocolates, a reusable acrylic keychain, and the whimsical crown jewel—a crunchy, tasty One Piece cookie on top. And all of this came with the price tag of around 1,000 yen for two scoops—a deal hard to match in the West.
But let’s talk about the ice cream, because the real star wasn’t the merchandise—it was the flavor.
I went with the Orange Sorbet, which was soft, refreshingly tart, and just sweet enough to make you feel like summer had arrived early. It’s the kind of flavor that reminds me I’m easily won over by good sorbet—and this was great sorbet.
My second scoop was Jamoca Almond Fudge, a wonderful contrast: deep chocolate flavor layered with a distinct nuttiness and little crispy almond bits that gave each bite some texture and chew. Topped with the One Piece cookie, it was both playful and satisfying.
My party member opted for a combo that came topped with whipped cream, chocolates shaped like One Piece characters, and two flavors that never fail: World Class Chocolate and Cookies 'n Cream. Both were rich and indulgent, delivering that perfect balance of smooth, sweet, and chocolate-y. Classic, done right.
Now, if there’s one critique, it’s the mysterious store hours. I walked past this location several times before I finally saw the lights on and the doors open. Whether that’s staffing, scheduling, or something else entirely, it’s a real shame—because once inside, everything runs like clockwork. And I’m confident there are plenty of locals and tourists who’d love to pop in for a scoop, if only they could.
Still, when it's open, this Baskin Robbins is a little gem of a spot—blending Japanese quality, fast service, and fun branding into something more than the sum of its parts. Not just a place to cool off, but a small delight in your travel day.
