Sakura-no-chaya — Restaurant in Iwakuni

A very small, homely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. There is an English menu with pictures so even with no Japanese under your belt, you can have an easy ordering experience. The wait staff don't speak English, though.

The service is fast and the water refills are self-serve. Fair prices for large serving sizes. I ordered the Iwakuni Lotus Root Noodles and it was around 9 dollars (990 yen). My friend ordered a Katsudon for the same price.

Lovely local food, cooked and served with passion and love to details. The pork, as well as the eel were of high quality, the salad with a nice dressing and the soup tasteful. 2度目の来訪です。今回は来るのが遅くなり、お店前の駐車場も三台くらいしか停められないし狭いので諦めて、今日は紅葉を見に来たので散歩がてら吉香公園近くのロープウェイ乗り場に停めてから来ました。前回と同じく岩国寿司定食を注文。うどんか蕎麦か蓮根麺を選べましたがせっかくなので蓮根麺を注文。平麺で蓮根感はあまり感じませんでしたがお出汁が美味しかったし外が肌寒かったので暖まりました。一品一品丁寧に作られていて目で見ても楽しめます。量は少なめなので男の人には物足りないかなという感じでしょうか。お値段は観光地価格で少々お高めな印象ですね。でも、どれも美味しかったです。食後にちょっとしたミニケーキとオレンジ、ドリンク付きで、ホッと一息ついてからお店を出ました。紅葉の時期でしたのでお昼時は平日でも人が多く、待ってる方も多かったです。行くなら開店直後がオススメ。いろんな蓮根料理をちょっとずつ食べら...
