Disappointing Lunch at Amalfi Uno
We visited Amalfi Uno for lunch on Wednesday, expecting the same great food and service we had enjoyed on previous visits. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed.
The staff were friendly and polite, but the restaurant seemed understaffed, and there appeared to be serious issues in the kitchen.
Service: Unacceptably Slow
For Japan, the service was shockingly slow. We waited 30 minutes for our appetizers, and there was an additional 10-minute gap between courses. In total, our lunch took nearly two hours—an unreasonable delay for a weekday meal.
Food: A Series of Letdowns
While the appetizers and dessert were passable, the main courses had serious flaws, which all four of us noticed: • The pasta was oversalted. • The drinking water was dirty. We were served a bottle containing a strange gray suspension—absolutely unacceptable. • The fish and scallops were oversalted. The fish was also overcooked, making it bitter. • The lamb was nearly raw and tough. It was barely seared, full of sinew, and impossible to chew.
Final Verdict
Despite its great location, reasonable prices, and courteous staff, these positives were completely overshadowed by the terrible food and slow service.

The chefs were obviously well skilled and I had a chance to watch them cook. I couldn’t find any fault in their technique. The steak I ate was one of the best I’ve had in a long while.
