First thing you'll wonder is Italian food in Japan, really? I'll be honest - I didnt expect it from myself either- I just searched top restaurants in Kamakura to try and this kept consistently popping out so ended up searching for it. Got lost around because its actually on the other side of Kamakura station (its behind it,if you're facing the station take the underpass aisle on the right after the coffee place and atm) and to get to this, you'll pass by a small alley filled with houses that will make you wonder if you're in the right place. And once you find it, you'll be charmed immediately by the vibe that you'll just walk in. Apparently they are famous for their cheese & pizza so that's what I had. I got the insalata burrata w/ proscuitto - first creamy slice to the burrata and I immediately knew its worth it. It's very creamy with some blend of spice on top that goes so well w/ tomato & the prosciutto. It was so kind of them to allow me to customize my pizza too because I wanted some greens so they put it on top. Mixing their famous pizza (margarita famous, but I got Romano - waiter recommended) with Burrata was just plain DIVINE!! Look for the only girl waitress also she speaks good English unlike the others including the owner/manager. Service will take time but surely freshly done when it gets to you. Ambiance is good as well- some on a date, others w/ family & friends. Definitely worth the visit when in Kamakura!
PS i walked home to somehow burn some out of finishing whole pizza &...
Read moreMe and my friends came here a couple of months ago at 6:58 which was 2 minutes before 7 (last order). Despite the fact that it was 2 minutes before last order we had 1 hour to eat which we thought was plenty of time, so we agreed to eat there. As soon as we expressed our decision the staff looked at us in disgrace and in an unwelcoming way guided us to our seats. There were 5 of us and we wanted only 3 pizzas but there was a rule saying that each one of us had to buy something. So in the end we went with 5 pizzas. Each pizza came one by one and took a while to come. They claimed that only 1 pizza could be on a table at a time forcing us to quickly eat each pizza so that we can finish by 8. One very important rule any worker should follow is that when they are in a rush, they should never show it to their customers. However, these waitors were running around and really loudly cleaning up and were quite rude us. I observed the way they treated other customers and saw that they was completely different. They were kind, calm and even making conversation with them. However for some reason were extremely rude to us. Maybe it is because we were speaking English, or because we look young, or because we came 2 minutes before last order, but whatever the reason it does not justify the way they treated us. Additionally, once it was 8 they kicked us out but let other customers stay there, unbelievably bad customer service. Not to mention how overpriced...
Read moreDisappointing Experience – Pizza and Wine Selection Fell Short
Our recent visit was quite underwhelming. The pizzas, unfortunately, did not meet expectations. The crust was extremely thin, almost translucent, and noticeably dry—lacking the texture and depth that define a great pizza. We ordered two varieties: one Bianca and one Rossa. While the red pizza was acceptable in terms of ingredients, the white pizza, advertised as featuring ‘nduja, was disappointing. Instead of the bold, spicy Calabrian sausage we anticipated, it was topped with a rather bland sausage that lacked any distinctive flavor. Moreover, it was overcooked, further diminishing its appeal.
Additionally, despite the restaurant presenting itself as a specialist in Italian wines, the selection was surprisingly limited. There were only a few traditional options alongside a variety of "BIO" wines, which left us questioning the depth and range of their offering.
On a positive note, the two cheeses we had as an antipasto were well-prepared and genuinely enjoyable. However, given the overall experience, we left feeling dissatisfied. There is certainly room for improvement, particularly in delivering pizzas that truly honor their traditional roots and curating a wine list that aligns with their...
