Rooftops — Restaurant in Kamakura

This is a place worth travelling for, even just for the burger.

We ordered the Kamakura burger, and Crispy Bacon Cheese burger (with egg topping).

This is literally the best burger I ate in Japan. Taking a bite of the burger patty, smoky bacon, cheddar and mozzarella cheese in one bite… omg so delicious. The meat was so juicy and tender and so flavourful. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back.

Also love the fact that when you order a soda, they give you the “full soda can” and a glass with ice. This is not some shop that tries to straight up scam you by giving your beverage with a ton of ice and less of the actual beverage. Props to Rooftops.

In addition to the food and drink, the service and atmosphere was spot on. Eating at the rooftop of the place just made the food taste better. There is an outside terrace and an indoors. Choose which place you prefer.

This place is popular so expect there to be a queue during peak times. Well...

Staff was kind and helpful. Cost performance was also pretty good.

We simply happened to walk in at 5pm as they were serving the last beef patty, which was a bummer. Especially considering there is a meat store literally 50m away, and buying meat was seemingly absolutely out of question.

We ate the last beef patty trying to find something else to order. The meat quality was average (Definitely not ground in house, and possibly not pure beef meat; which can happen a lot in Japan)

The chicken wings were fine, and the accompanying blue cheese sauce was really good.

Absolutely awesome burgers! If you are looking for something different and unique, this is definitely the place. I went for the doughnut burger which I have never seen before in my life and was vindicated in my choice. The personal touch is also great. Each table gets a numbered animal after ordering. It is very creative and very cute. The only thing that seems to be lacking is the terrace. It is really quite a shame, because we visited the restaurant in order to enjoy the view. However it was summer, and the outdoor area is completely open so we could not handle the heat. I am not sure if the terrace is better in winter or is sealed off at some time of the year, but summer is definitely not the right time to...
