Stone Oven Garden Terrace — Restaurant in Kamakura

Had afternoon tea there with my wife. Very pleasant garden in the grounds of a Buddhist temmple and tasty food, though like most Japanese afternoon teas, a bit heavy on the sweet stuff and not enough of the savoury stuff. One gripe is a lack of a vegetarian option with the sandwiches. The afternoon tea had one cucumber sandwich and one roast beef sandwich. I'm vegetarian and asked beforehand whether there was meat in the sandwiches. An attendant in a more flexible establishment would have had another vegetarian option available, or better still put a choice on the menu, but Japan is way behind the times when it comes to vegetarianism. And isn't vegetarianism a major part of Buddhism anyway?! Ended up swapping my beef sandwich for my wife's cucumber sandwich but...

The café/restaurant is beautifully designed, with a stylish interior that opens up to a terrace overlooking lush greenery. It feels like stepping into a tranquil oasis, away from the busy streets and tourist crowds.

What makes this place special is the view from the terrace. Sitting outside, you can enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature while savoring your meal. It’s an ideal stop after sightseeing in Kamakura, whether for a leisurely lunch or just a relaxing coffee break.

I’ll definitely return in May or June to see the garden in a different season, as I can only imagine how stunning it...

鎌倉十三仏霊場めぐりで二番札所の「浄妙寺」さんをお参りしたあとに伺いました。浄妙寺さんの本堂の左、茶室の脇道の階段を登っていくと「石窯ガーデンテラス」に行くことができます。 伺ったのは5月5日のこどもの日の13時半。予約なしだったので、並んでいたら別のお店と思っていましたが、待つことなく席へ案内してもらえました。待つことなくと言いましたが、ウェイティングリストに書いてくださいとのことだったので、名前と人数と内容（食事 / カフェ）と場所（テラス / 中 / どちらでも）を記入するとすぐに案内いただけました（テラスでの食事を選択）。テラス席はお好きな場所とのことでしたので、4〜5席ある丸テーブルを選択して着席。 ランチの食事は「季節の肉料理（3,150円）」「季節の魚料理（3,300円）」「石窯ガーデンプレート（3,200円）」から選択します。肉料理は「国産三元豚肩ロースの低温ロースト...
