hana はな家 — Restaurant in Karatsu

In my opinion this place is exceptional. My wife and I have visited this place several times on each occasion we find ourselves in Karatsu, and we wouldn't go anywhere else. On first impression the shop comes across as your regular Japanese teishoku (set-meal) diner, with a quaint atmosphere, taxi drivers having their lunch and reading the newspapers. And the menu itself is standard fare you'd find anywhere, nothing fancy, but the quality of the food is something else, it is outstanding. I think the cook/owner has the Midas touch, as almost every single dish has that x-factor that makes you 'WOW' after you bite into it, everything from the miso soup to the shrimp-fry. It's simple home-cooking done par excellence, and if you are looking for somewhere in Japan where you can get a taste of what everybody eats at home but made at a high level of gastronomical expertise, then this is the spot. 日曜のお昼に行きました。 他の方も書かれてるように平日と土日はランチ内容が違うようです。土日価格は観光客を意識したものかも。 お店の外観はバーガースタンド風で中が暗め、様子が良く分からないのでちょっと勇気が要りましたが 中に入ると中庭からの明りが入って丁度良い感じです。パン屋さん兼ねてる感じでした。 日替わりを頂きました。その日はハムとサラダ、ピタパ？とコンソメスープ、ご飯とコーヒーでした。 ハムが美味かったのでビール追加しました。 ご飯は柔らか目で個人的には好きな硬さでした。 コロナのひどい時は、お昼に周り中の飲食が閉めてしまってた中、頑張って開...
