A very local, authentic and cosy Korean experience. It felt like a friend invited me over to their grandmother's house for dinner, and their grandmother fed me while I waited for the friend. Even the toilet is so familiar and personal. The menu is in Japanese and Korean, and I received 2 side dishes before ordering. I didn't ask for a receipt but as per Japanese culture, I assume they were お通し (appetisers) added to the bill.
I ordered kimchi jeon and a small bottle of makkeolli (rice wine), and was absolutely stuffed. The pancake was pleasantly crispy and came with a soy sauce dipping sauce, which is quite salty, so you don't need to use too much. I'm going to have to see if I can get cheese on top next time. The rice wine came in a cute, little kettle, and was well shaken for me. I felt transported back to South Korea despite mainly hearing Japanese around me. There was rather depressing Japanese news on the TV but the halmuni was listening to Korean TV on her phone/ tablet, which improved the immersive Korean atmosphere for me. I would have preferred if she hooked it up to the TV, to be honest, so that I could watch it, too.
