焼肉や とんちゃん亭 — Restaurant in Kawasaki

Yakiniku-ya Tonchantei was recommended to us by our hotel, as one of the best restaurants in the area around Kawasaki Station. We'd been going back and forth as to what we wanted for lunch, eventually narrowing it down between sushi and yakiniku, and finally settling on the latter. A few minutes walk, and we were there, right after opening time.

We were seated immediately, despite having two toddlers and two strollers; the restaurant staff helped us break them down and carry them into the back of the restaurant, where we were seated at a low table, and our hardware squared away nearby. After some initial confusion about which menu was active (lunch vs. dinner), we ordered a few places of absolutely gorgeous wagyu beef, a couple of drinks, and all the assorted sides, plus a few extras (kimchi, etc).

Man, what an awesome lunch! Well, technically, it was also our breakfast, since we had gotten a late start on the day...but do you think anyone complained? Not a chance! Who doesn't want slabs of delicious wagyu beef, rice and veggies for breakfast? Who needs bacon, eggs and sausage?! Switch it up!

We would end up ordering a few extra plates, but when the check finally came, after factoring the exchange rate and whatnot, we ended up spending less than $60 USD for one of the best lunch/brunch/breakfasts we've ever had. If you take anything away from this review, here are the things I would focus on:

Trust your hotel's restaurant recommendations. Try something a little outside your comfort zone, even if it's just [insert meal] during [insert type of day]. Everything Japan does (at least in the culinary space) is amazing. That hole in the wall you just walked past? It'll...

I just randomly walk around at Kawasaki and notice this yakiniku and walk in. Staff here is very nice and they take care me so much, giving me a memorable yakiniku vibe. For the meat, I love the beef tongue so muchie. It’s absolutely juicy to the topppp. I will take my friends...

ランチの3種盛り（ロース、カルビ、ハラミ）をいただきました。 1140円だったかな？ ハラミがちょっと好みとは違いましたが、リーズナブルでとてもおいしくいただきました。 店員さんの接客も気持ち良かったです。 ランチにはウーロン茶がついてきますが、13時からはさらにドリンクがつきます。 基本冷たい飲み物しかないので、ホット系があると嬉しいなあと思いました。

あと、系列の韓の台所みたいにランチでも霜降りカルビが選べると嬉しいです。

夜にも何度か利用させていただいたので追記します。 料理はどれもおいしく、混んでいなければ1人や2人でも席を広く使えます。 店員さんは一生懸命接客している方が多い印象。 個人的には上ハラミがおすすめです。

一方で、うーんというところも。 値段帯には一生懸命よりも、細やかさがしっかりある接客だといいのかなと思います。 同様の値段帯だと、なかなか遭遇しない内容（あるべきものがテーブルにない、取り皿が頼まないと来ないなど）がちょこちょことあり、こちらからお願いすることが、周りを見ていても多いように感じます。 普通に態度があまり良くない店員さんもたまにいらっしゃいます。

上ハラミや一部のメニューには、それ専用のタレもついてくるのですが、入っている薬味の量に結構なばらつきがあったりもします。 一定量があったうえでバラけていればいいんですが、明らかに少ないこともあります。 多分言えば取り替えてくれます。

人件費を抑えているからコスパがいい可能性もありますし、細かいところなので利用側がどう考えるかかなと思います。 私は改善がなかったとしても、今後も利用したいと思っているお店です。
