We stumbled on this place due to the delicious smell; we didn't Google or Yelp it, we just happened to walk by. When we walked in, all the customers were Indian -- that's how you know a place is authentic, and wow, were we surprised. I would have never thought that the best authentic Indian food I've ever had in a restaurant would be in Kawasaki, Japan. My wife and I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the US and elsewhere. I even learned to cook Indian food from scratch from a South Indian lady, so when I tasted the food here, I can taste the garam masala, the cardamom, the cloves, the cashews used to thicken the sauce. It's authentic Indian food made by the hands of a nice, kind, humble Indian guy. I didn't know this same person was our waiter and everything else. You could tell he is genuinely a good person with a big heart. The chicken and mutton biryani we had were excellent and in large portions. I asked for the maximum level of spiciness (Indian spicy), and he delivered. That spiciness paired perfectly with the cool, not overly sweet mango lassi we had. The cheese naan we had were piping hot, perfectly crispy on the outside, slightly chewy and oh so cheesy on the inside. The butter chicken we had was perfectly balanced -- the heavy butter flavor was balanced by slightly sweet and slightly acidic undertones... I used the word, "perfect," a lot because that was how the food was -- perfect! This is our last week on Kawasaki and I told my wife that instead of going back to an all-you-can-eat yakiniku, I prefer to come here, and I can't...

Especially biriyani was authentic unlike the fake biriyani (aka fried rice) that they serve in most of the Indian/Nepali restaurants in Japan. Chef Mr. Gopal also offered specially made cold almond milk, which was a refreshing change. This hidden gem is located in B1F just behind Kawasaki City Office. There used to be a restaurant called Soulti Food Bar at this location. Chef Mr. Gopal said that he can make customized dishes if informed in advance. Thanks to Indo Bazaar, Kamata owner Arif-bhai, finally we have a real and authentic Indian restaurant near...
