I hate being the voice out of the choir who complains and adds a mediocre review but I didn't enjoy my experience.
Nothing major but a lot of small things made my meal unsatisfying: People doing the cooking didn't seem happy. That created the opposite atmosphere than I would expect from a local restaurant in a city full of temples There was very little space where to stay. The door for the bathroom was literally sitting 50-60 cm behind my back My udon arrived being barely warm My udon were not well cut. For example I had 3 udon together that made it more like a dish if tagliatelle The panna cotta-like tofu had a weird taste. I had another one the following meal from another place and it tasted delicious My meal didn't arrive at the same time as my partner's. We noticed the same in other tables/couples I found there was not enough food. Other options the menu instead led to receiving massive amount of food, so you can expect quite some imbalance The tray I got passed by the waiter was dirty and 2 bowls wet on the outside. I think it's the first time that it happens to me after in Japan The choice of music in the background was not harmonic: we went through a sequence of a song sung by a little child to a very famous contemporary pop son to a piece of classical music (likely from a movie theme). Read more📍Best Vegan Meal in Koyasan?⬇️ ✨ Share & Save for your next Japan trip! Kotobuki Shokudo (ことぶき食堂) is a cozy, family-run restaurant with just 11 seats 🍲. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and filled with care. The vegan set meal is beyond expectations 🌱 — over 15 different flavors on one plate, each carefully prepared and so tasty you’ll want to lick the plate clean. The miso soup is unforgettable, easily the best of my Osaka/Koyasan trip 🍵. We also tried the coconut curry — rich, aromatic, and honestly the best curry we’ve ever had in Japan. Every dish feels homemade with love ❤️. 💭 Would you choose the coconut curry or the vegan set meal first? The menu has a limited number of options but the variety is good, both Japanese and Western options, including a couple of fresh daily specials. The staff were super friendly, especially the owner, who could also speak English as well. It's a small but very cute and...
