yesterday I had lunch at this place that prepares one of the specialties of mount koya or koyasan, namely sesame tofu.

I showed the celiac travel card and I was told that I could have one of their gluten free soups that were on the menu. I chose the one called "fake chicken", in which there is tofu fried in rice flour batter.

The soup I chose also said that marinated Bamboo was present, luckily I asked because the Bamboo was marinated in soy sauce.

By taking these precautions, that is, asking for specific and timely instructions even after showing the celiac card, I ate well and I was not sick (I am celiac sensitive to contamination).

However, the advice I feel like giving is that when you find something gluten free on the menu it does not necessarily refer to the whole dish so always ask because they really do not understand even if...

Very good experience at this restaurant. There is a gluten free meal with rice noodles and a flavourful broth. The other people in my group got soups with soba noodles and loved those too. I got the specialty gluten-free, vegetarian dish. It comes in three flavours. The miso has peanuts so I had to skip that one, the paitan (translates from Chinese as Pai - white Tan - soup). It was flavourful and delicious and warm. The tofu is made from sesame. I enjoyed trying a new type of tofu. It is the end of December so it is very cold exploring the temples and so sitting down in this warm spot feels like such a relief. The woman immediately brought us warm tea. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant for people with celiac and for those normies who can eat...

it was a lovely experience and such a relief to find a restaurant in koyasan that serves only vegan dishes. the goma tofu side dish was perfect. the noodle dishes were tasty and well balanced, and the desserts were a nice way to end the meal.

they also have a small souvenir shop near the entrance where you can pick up some tofu gifts.

although the prices are on the higher side and there can be a long wait, especially during lunch hours, the experience and peaceful atmosphere make it worth it. they also have a few other branches around koyasan if this one gets...
