This is most ridiculous attitude problem that I have seen in Japan. The chef/owner has a discriminatory attitude against tourists or foreigners.
We were the first group of the customers at 6pm. We tried to order the daily specials which were posted on the chalk board but he told us those items only offered on weekends. We were there on a weekend. Later, a group of four Japanese guests arrived and they ordered the specials from the chalk board. Then we asked him why they can and we cannot. The chef/owner replied those are for members only. What the hell??
