Niseko Confidential — Restaurant in Kutchan

Go here! Yes it is a short walk but worth it. If you don’t have a reservation in the center of the village, you will not have a place to eat. But, Niseko Confidential had many place to sit around 6pm. I had the highly acclaimed gingerbread old fashioned. Not really a Hokkaido cocktail but it is one of the best old fashioneds I’ve ever had. Then the wagyu beef bites, excellent! Huge portion cooked perfectly. I’ll be in Tokyo and will be loooking for their bar there. A few suggestions for improvement, the service could be better. Maybe I’m spoiled after eating in a few Japanese restaurants, but I had to ask to get a second glass of water and there was no socializing from the bartender at all. They advertise driving you back and forth to your hotel, but they two vans parked outside that looked like they haven’t been used in weeks. These are just minor areas for improvement. Had high hopes for this place but sadly disappointed us. There was a real lack of vibe, despite it looking very cool. We ordered two spicey margaritas for 2500 each, which is by far the most we have paid but thought we’d give it a try. The margaritas were tasty, but so tiny. Pointlessly small was only a few sips. We went to pay the bill and it was 6000, 1000 was added on at the end - 20% ‘tax’ charge. There was no notice of this at all. Honestly, this place is NOT worth it.
