Magic Mountain's Margy Monday is the best spicy margarita my fiancĂŠ and I have ever had, bar none. In fact, it's so good that a quick stop in for a cocktail turned into four spicy margaritas...each, reluctantly leaving to grab food, and then returning for a 5th spicy marg before going back to our lodge. It was the best cocktail we had in Japan (yes, even better than Bar Gyu), and the only cocktail we've ever told the story about on a regular basis to our friends. And yes, it all happened on an unassuming Monday. Curious how we wound up here? Allow me to set the scene.
After six epic ski days and a long day of travel (10+ hours on 3 separate trains), we were exhausted when our lodge host casually pointed out Magic Mountain, mentioning âMargy Monday.â Intrigued, we stopped in âjust for oneâ on our way to dinner. One drink turned into two, then three, and a fourth...all before the dinner we had initially set out to grab. We kept talking, laughing, and falling in love with the place, the drinks, and the moment. Eventually, we grabbed dinner...and came back for one final round.
If you can only go to one bar in Niseko, go to Magic Mountain. If you can, plan for a Monday. And make sure to order the spicy marg...or four. I promise you...
