Cabaret (formerly BAR Baaru) — Restaurant in Kyoto

Best Bar in Town, Extremely Foreigner Friendly and the best way to speak to two lovely Japanese Locals who own the bar but also perform and impress with beautiful cocktails.

The two owners, Beaver and Miho, drew us in from the street with Beaver and Miho's beautiful singing and drumming to accompany that! We were served beautiful cocktails that used not just taste but scent and spectacle to draw us in.

We did not sing, instead we entered to listen, which was welcomed by the guests of the bar and Beaver and Miho, and to end the night, after an amazing conversation to learn more about Japanese Culture from Miho, she and Beaver performed the opening to Evangelion, my favorite anime.

I have spent close to two weeks here and yet, I had not had as much fun as I did last night and felt so welcomed.

Visit this cozy and welcoming place and leave with an amazing experience I haven't been able to find the same anywhere else...

Such a unique and welcoming place!! Me and my two traveling friends from Puerto Rico were looking for a last moment bar before departing from Kyoto. It was somehow difficult to find the spot on the map because we didn't know it was located on a second story and hidden on a small hallway. We were kindly greeted by the staff and they reacted very shocked and cheerful that we came from so far away, and eventually got to meet such wonderful customers who were amazing Karaoke singers. They even convinced my friend to join in and sing some Karaoke songs from our home country as well. Arigatou...

This karaoke bar was EASILY the highlight of my trip to Kyoto. Miho and Bieber (and Saya!) were an absolute pleasure to meet and welcomed me with open arms. I had such a great time that I came in four (4!) nights in a row. Miho (again, and Saya!) are amazing singers, and Bieber is just as good of a drummer that will join in whenever you step up to the stage to sing. I'll most definitely be back whenever I'm in Kyoto. I made some great memories I'll definitely keep with me for the rest of my life. Thank you all from the bottom...
