I am a regular customer who have visited Hana Ice countless times for years. I happened to find a harsh review about Hana Ice here on Google, so I decided to write a review for Hana Ice. It’ll be a long review(because I have so many memories and passion about it…!), but I hope this review can wipe away bad image and worries from people, which might be caused by the previous severe review…because, Hana Ice is absolutely AWESOME!!
First and foremost, Hana Ice is so original and unique. The 1 point star severe review I found was like “it didn’t taste like vanilla”, but here is the thing, because it is not Vanilla flavor, it is not made from vanilla and milk! Hana Ice is white MISO ice cream, you know miso, right? It’s Japanese people’s soul food. Super healthy and nutritious. Hana Ice is made from white miso and soy milk, so it is not vanilla, it is dairy-free product and such a perfect vegan option! Talking of myself, I am allergic to lactose and dairy products, so this white miso ice cream is perfect and wonderful for me, it is always my favorite and something I enjoy and look forward to in my daily life!
Speaking of the taste, it’s not disgusting at all!!!!!!! It is really surprising that it is made from miso and soy milk…it is somehow creamy, and tastes so rich for me. Also what’s great about this white miso ice cream is…it is SUGAR FREE. No sugar!!!!! Isn’t it wonderful…?! Made from soy milk and miso, and with no sugar, which means, the more you grab this ice cream, the more protein you can have and the more beautiful and healthy you can become…! Also, any food additive isn’t used for this ice cream. So you can feel totally safe and relieved when you have any kind of food here at Hana Ice.
You can enjoy meal here as well, by the way. Homemade gyoza using miso, various different kinda of kimchi, korean mixed rice…not only ice cream but also any kind of meal, whatever I have tried here tasted soooo good, and so healthy. Every time I have something here, I can be so satisfied!! I would like you to give it a try!
Oh, also, this white miso ice cream is only available here…because Hana-san, the lady who owns and runs this place, is the one who invented this ice cream. She once told me that she got certificate, so she is the only person who can make this ice cream on this planet earth….I feel so lucky to live nearby to Hana Ice👍
And lastly, Hana-san herself is so wonderful! She doesn’t use sugar to make her white miso ice cream, but she is such a sweet person with such a warm big heart and great hospitality…a lot of regular costumers who visit her place love not only her amazing food but also Hana-san herself! I am one of those regular customers. I visit Hana Ice pretty often, because seeing Hana-san and having ice cream she makes while talking with lovable Hana-san, easily makes me happier and brighter, gives me courage. I am a huge fan of both her food and Hana-san herself!!!!
Anyways…I can tell you that Hana Ice is one of a kind, and it’s definitely something worth a try. Hana-san’s ice cream, whatever food there, also Hana-san herself, are really loved by many many people, not only local folks but also all the random people who happened to visit there from all over the world. (I am doing a tour guide of “Let’s visit hidden gems of Kyoto” experience on Airbnb, and during my tour I’ve brought so guests to Hana Ice. Literally everyone loved white miso ice cream…which is really amazing…!!)
If you have a chance to visit Japan, visit Kyoto, if you like ice cream, if you wanna enjoy something healthy and deicious and unique….why don’t you visit Hana Ice? Why not?! I am surely hopeful that you can have a wonderful unforgettable yummy experience...
Read moreIf you like Matcha ice cream, and/or home-made ice cream, come here. You won't find anything like it anywhere else in the city.
Probably the best ice cream I've ever had. The Uji Matcha is phenomenal (and I've tried quite a few). Hana Ice also offers white miso ice cream, which tastes as interesting as it sounds! Can't well compare to anything, but I really enjoyed it. Also had apple (incredibly good), sesame (very interesting, enjoyed it with the miso on top, but I think matcha would have fit perfectly as well) and Yuzu. Yuzu was a bit more of a subtle flavor that again, I can't really compare, but it was certainly quite enjoyable.
Thanks to the very friendly owner, and good luck...
Read moreSo so glad I dropped by even though the weather was chilly outside! Hana is such an incredibly bubbly, friendly, and kind-hearted person; I would visit again just to have a chance to chat with her once more! Even with our subpar Japanese communication skills, Hana was so warm and made us laugh so much. The shop itself has a warm atmosphere and is tucked away in between two larger buildings. The miso/matcha ice cream we got was delicious, and as we were eating, Hana brought over some hot tea for us and told us to stay warm since it’s getting chilly lately. Such a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this place, even on a cold day but especially on...
