I cannot say enough good things about this gem of a place that my husband and I discovered a few months ago in Kyoto... It's our favorite meal in Kyoto! It's on the second floor of a building, and the moment you walk into the restaurant you feel as though you're in someone's home because the atmosphere is so inviting, warm, and relaxed. A beautiful soundtrack plays in the background and there is also a fantastic view of the Kamo River, which is so calming to look out onto when eating a meal. What truly takes our breath away is the meal though... One chef carefully and expertly prepares every dish that arrives on your plate and the experience is one filled with utter joy in every bite. My husband and I truly beam at each other while devouring every flavor, savoring our meal to the last bite! It is the very definition of joyful eating! We are also served delicious, warm tea after our meal. We never feel overly-full after our meal here because the food is so fresh, local, seasonal, and healthy. It's truly our favorite food experience in Kyoto and we are so happy to be loyal customers! Thank you so much...
Read moreLoved the food here very much! Believe the glowing reviews! They preserve the natural taste of the food yet making them so flavourful! Felt very nourished and contented after my meal. The setting of the restaurant was also very pleasant, looking over to the river, with vintage music playing in the background. Service from one lady could be improved though, as she seemed cold and impatient. When I asked if they have ramen today and she said no, i needed some time to flip the menu back to the 1st page to decide what else to eat, and she just walked away impatiently. I understand she's busy so she wanted to attend to other tasks, but she could have said something like "I'll give you more time, or call me when you're ready" (I spoke in Japanese to her). The lady in the kitchen was more warm and friendly. Also noted that the restaurant had a very strong "fried oil" smell and my clothes and bag smelled of oil for the rest of the day. I guess that can't be helped. But overall a good experience because the food was great! Would...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious food which is vegan only. The host was extremely friendly and runs this restaurant with lots of pride and passion. She has visited India several years ago and was inspired with the food and its flavours, which led her to starting this pure Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant in Kyoto.
We ordered 2 set menus - first one with 2 curries, salad and rice. The second one was with 3 curries, salad, rice, vegetable tempura, sweet and spicy chai.
Would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch if you are in Kyoto near the Imperial palace. However please note that this restaurant accepts only cash, no card payments.
Note: It is easy to miss this restaurant as Google maps is slightly confusing. This restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building just next to Jingu-Marutamachi station - Exit 2 (On the Kawabata...
