Sagenta — Restaurant in Kyoto

I had the Matcha Soft Serve with the mini castella cakes. This was sooooooo good together! The matcha had its presence but not too bold. The castella cakes were appropriately sweet and paired well with the matcha ice cream.

We also had the steamed pork bun with a chestnut Mont Blanc. This was surprisingly a great combination making it both sweet and salty.

If you find yourself in Kibune, make sure you take the walk up and try this place. The atmosphere is amazing and you’ll see the beautiful views of the river.

Despite its 4.2 rating, the food was disappointing. The atmosphere was quite nice, but prices are steep. Regular seats were priced at ¥650, while those at the very end — with an unblocked view — went up to ¥1,500. The food was also on the pricier side, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t match the cost.

That said, we did enjoy the cool breeze.

We had the premium seats, which cost 1500 yen per person. The river view and the atmosphere was great. There was a short burst of rain, and the roof does not protect from the rain, so we got a bit wet.

That said, the food was not great and expensive. The boar rice bowl was dry and the ayu tempura rice bowl was not impressive either.
