Hostile towards foreigners. Before letting us in, the lady had to ask the chef, who didn't look very happy about it but agreed. There were only two other customers there, and they both kept looking at us in a very hostile manner.

The chef used too much wasabi. He even smashed a gob of wasabi right in front of us in the bar (on the wooden counter, no plate or anything). That made us think that the amount of wasabi was not a mistake.

Apart from the wasabi, the food quality was mediocre at best. There was a compete lack of care or attention to quality. The place itself had a fishy smell. The portions were completely inconsistent and the fish quality was unexceptional; we felt like the chef was using fish trimmings and that they were using previously frozen fish.

The draft beer had a strong fishy smell/taste. Since it is served on a frozen mug, it seems that the mugs are kept in a freezer...

Drawn here by the high ratings but if you look closely at the five stars comments, you’ll realise 80% of them are tourists who probably never had sushi or even Asian food in their life.

If you know your sushi, please do not come here. Seems like this place has turned from a mediocre-at-best neighbourhood sushi place to a tourist trap.

Undeniably, the sushi portion is very generous, given it’s almost the size of a fist. However, that is a complete loss of balance. If you have ever had good sushi, you will know the kind of satisfaction of popping the entire piece in your mouth with the fish slowing melting and blending in the rice. But with their “very generous” cut of squid, I spent almost five minutes just chewing on it and almost choking on the rice.

Foreigners are also treated differently here. Local customers were offered fruits after the meal and we had...

Firstly don't be intimidated if the doors are closed and you know that the place is open, just swing the doors open. I imagine their food is quite precious that they don't want anything from the outside going in which can contaminate the food. The moment you walk in you'll be welcomed very well. You can ask for an English menu if you wish which at the end is really just point and say the amount you want. The cool part of the menu though is at the opening page which has the etiquette to eating sushi and ways to enjoy it even more. Don't be afraid to try small portions of each cause I can tell you it's worth it. Every type available is worth it. WORTH IT!!! It might be located a little out of the way but I can assure you, just stop by and your love for sushi will just rise. This is literally godtier level sushi in my honest opinion. I hope you...

Best sushi I've had in Japan. Found this little place after exploring the shrines. At first I thought it was quite pricey for uni students on a budget. My friend and I both ordered a set each. She also ordered miso soup and I ordered an extra portion of scallop nigiri. The sashimi slices got to be the thickest I've seen in my life. They were fresh and extremely filling. We were struggling to finish it all but we did because it was so delicious. The chefs were friendly and gave us each a plate of fresh fruit for free. It ended up being only ¥3,000 altogether. This is much more worth than going to the cheap ''¥100 per plate places' as it is fresher. You would probably end up saving more money going here. If we could come back, we would, everyday.
