京都宣教教会 (Kyoto Missionary Church) — Attraction in Kyoto

Instantly welcoming. Loving to everyone, including foreigners. I was vacationing in Kyoto from the USA. Suddenly, I found myself without plans on a Sunday, yet driven to seek out fellowship due to the habitual attendance developed in me. God led me to this church, the second one I found, and the first with the doors wide open. As I stood outside awkwardly, a little too late for the start of the worship service, ignorant to the culture here, and not speaking anything besides English, I considered going home. But a man bought coffee from the vending machine and invited me in energetically. He showed me how to remove my shoes and step into this house. Their translation team provided a headset and allowed me to understand the message, a teaching in Samuel 3 where God calls multiple times to Samuel, and I stayed for 5 hours comfortably. They invited me to lunch, to a tea ceremony, and to a kimono experience. By their generous hospitality, their boundless enthusiasm, and studiously diligent faith, this church shows reverence to God, representing Christ honorably.
