Bougetsu Hamburg and Katsu — Restaurant in Matsue

My son and I arrived in Matsue for the first time ever after visiting Izumo Taisha. We were starving, but most of the other restaurants were closing at 2pm, and we wouldn't be able to make it, so we took a chance here! I'm so happy we did!

At first, I was a bit worried because we had to catch a train and plane back to Osaka in a few hours, and a sign on the door said that only one person was working that day, so to please be patient. We went ahead and took the gamble!

The owner was indeed balancing several orders at once, lining them all up neatly on the countertop before bringing them out to customers. Every plate looked amazing, full of delicious set meals, which made me more excited about getting our order! It really didn't take too long before we were served with a smile and so much friendliness by the owner! The beef katsu was tender, with a nice crispy crunch. There was a fried egg on the side - perfect! Some salad, rice, delicious miso soup and pickles like a proper teishoku, and we were both completely satisfied by the time we finished our meal!

The owner, even though he was so busy with a constant stream of customers before closing, was happy to chat with us as we paid our bill, and I bought a key chain of the original character mascot, which is adorable and quite distinctive! Amazing food and amazing service under severe pressure - even to strangers like us! If I get the chance to return to Matsue, I will...
