Stopped for just under an hour while changing trains in Kii-Katsuura. Delicious Basque Cheesecake (“made with double cheese!”) and good cafe lattes - not something to be taken for granted in smaller towns.

We had already eaten, but the lunch sets at the nearby tables smelled great.

Do note that there is one barista/chef + 1 staff, so service might not be the fastest. They happily accommodated our request to change our coffees to takeaway - probably the right choice, rather than gulping it down and rushing...

Say you were on death row (framed, innocent, a kind but framed soul) and upon said death row you were to die. Tomorrow. And those executioners said, Your final meal may be chicken curry and chicken curry alone. Strange, but entirely probable scenario. Well, I say to you, this may be it. The chicken curry of ama ai is so Divine, so rich on the bone, cooked with spice retolent of the Caribbean and yet hints of India, with just enough kick to satisfy the inner sadist.

I'd say top it off with scones and coffee, also excellent but alas, the bastards have given you...

Very nice urban café/restaurant of which Kii-Katsuura does not have many. The menu is very nice and original with vegetarian options, the food is really good, staff is super, good vibes in this place. They serve good coffee until they close and have good desserts too.
