We were lucky to get a spot in this restaurant. We sat outside like two hungry cats before they opened and prayed. The host was very gracious to offer us one of two tables. The sushi bar was booked. No worries for us.
You choose the quality of fish from a set menu. We opted for the best. A bargain at 3800 yen. The bar was soon occupied by some high class regulars and we enjoyed watching them. It seems the bar is able to order things we weren’t able to get or maybe we just didn’t know how to order. The sushi chef speaks some English which was helpful.
We never will know what we missed but what we did enjoy was some the best sushi of our lives. Shrimp like I have never tasted and melt in your mouth tuna. The pieces of fish were giant. Everyone was very kind and patient with us as we used google translate. We ordered Japanese sake too. Our total bill with several drinks and some additional tuna and abalone sushi came to about 100$ usd
Shop is run by the sushi chef and his mother. We loved them and their restaurant. Definitely the place...
Read moreSmall family run sushi restaurant that graciously let us in even though we went right when they were about it close.
They have 3 sushi sets, we tried 上 (2700 yen with 7 sushi) Every single piece of sushi was fresh and went super well with the wasabi. They also served a soup that’s reminiscent of miso soup but it’s じゅんさい inside, pretty interesting as it was our first time trying that!
The owner and his mother were extremely friendly as well, they also recommended some places we could visit around town, which was near the harbour and only a 15-20min walk...
Read moreAbsolute gem of a place! We stumbled on this shop after the first two restaurants we tries were closed. And thank God for that!!! We enjoyed a great sushi dinner with the chef and his family watching the world wrestling championships. His son was wrestling for Japan and the defending world champion female Japanese wrestler was wrestling for a spot in the final. He was beaming with pride for his son. I felt lucky to witness the raw emotion of a father's pride. His sushi is one of my top 3 favorites after traveling Japan...
