Soba Aburaya – A Cozy Spot Right in Front of Nagano Station As a foreigner living in Nagano, I stumbled upon Soba Aburaya while looking for a simple lunch near the station. Since then, I've visited about 3 or 4 times in the past month – which shows how much I enjoy this place.
The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere, with a traditional Japanese feel. Even though it's close to the station and often busy during peak hours, the staff are polite and service is quick.
The food is flavorful and satisfying. The soba noodles are firm and aromatic, and the broth is well-balanced – rich but not too salty. Side dishes like tempura and tororo are also prepared with care. Portions are quite generous for the price, making it a great value.
What I appreciate most is the friendly, welcoming vibe. It’s not a flashy or fancy restaurant, but Soba Aburaya offers an honest and comforting dining experience that reflects the spirit of local Japanese cuisine.

This is a clean and well serviced restaurant, quite cheap as well, menus attached...

Their specialty is soba with tempura. We ordered the fried blowfish (fugu or puffer fish), can't say that it is the best tasting fish (can't blame the restaurant though). Their service is prompt but not super fast which gives us time to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall a...
