While this place ma be popular and the food really good, one can’t get past the extremely smelly odor of the kitchen and drains. I get that it’s a ramen shop and that it’s a wet environment due to the draining of the noodles and the simmering of the broth but one should never be smelling the drains that are more than likely full of gunk from the starch of the noodles and the fats of the broth. As these build up in the drains and pipes the smell compounds giving offer a diaper sewer smell and then mixing with the smell of the boiled bone broth which in itself is very pungent.
Hopefully the owners and managers will take notice and give the place a deep clean and train the staff to clean better. Highly doubtful though as most places in Japan don’t care and seem to think that years of grease build up or stained walls and floors are signs of tradition and good cooking. Broth is very creamy and seasoned just right to pack enough punch on the first sip. Combine that with the aroma from the roasted pork gives it an extremely satisfying flavor.
Noodles are nice and bouncy and the pork is cooked just right.
I'm surprised they aren't crowded at 7:30pm but perhaps their late opening hours make them popular with the people who are night owls. Also maybe their location is a bit far...
