We walked in randomly because we were craving red meat, and we were not disappointed. We ordered the beef course, which consisted of the following: beef sashimi, fresh fish sashimi (we had squid), beef sushi, an okinawan vegetable course (pumpkin, bitter melon, and onion), an amazingly tender sirloin, garlic rice, bonito broth (for the rice), and fruit and a shaved ice for dessert.
First off, for the parents out there, this place was surprisingly accommodating of small children for a high-end restaurant. They had high chairs, a (n inexpensive) kid's menu with pastas and fries, kid's cups and utensils, etc. If you want to have a nice meal but you're not sure if your toddler or small child will be welcome, rest assured, they will be.
Onto the food. The star of the show was, no question, the meat. Okinawan beef from Churaumi region. The steak was the most tender, fatty sirlion I have ever had. In fact, even the beef sashimi and sushi (cooked by torch, ofc) melts in your mouth. The vegetables were and excellent break from richness. And the ric and broth dish were as comforting as they were aromatic. Also, the process of making the broth (through reverse osmosis) was really fun to watch. I havent had dessert yet, so i can't comment, but I'll update if it's anything but delicious.
The service was wonderful. The wait staff and our personal chef were attentive and warm. They also loved our child and her antics.
The atmosphere is very quiet, like a hotel bar. The lighting is a bit on the dark side, but there is something of a spotlight directly above your place setting. A bit dark for my taste, but that's subjective. The jazz was nice, but again, my taste.
Overall, it was an excellent experience and wonderful meal. My only warning would be that it wasn't the most filling meal for the price. But i am an American so YMMV. (My wife and i ordered an extra...
Read moreI had an unforgettable lunch at Matsumoto Teppanyaki, made even more special by the incredible skill and hospitality of Chef Akito Sasaki. From start to finish, the experience was seamless — they thoughtfully accommodated my food allergies without compromising on flavor or presentation.
I ordered the Yambaru course. Some of my favorite dishes were the hamburger, wagyu beers sukiyaki, and garlic fried rice, and each dish was a standout. The hamburger was rich, juicy, and perfectly cooked, while the garlic fried rice was fragrant and expertly balanced. You can really tell that every element was carefully crafted with intention.
Chef Sasaki’s precision and artistry made the meal not only delicious but also a pleasure to watch. If you’re looking for a high-quality teppanyaki experience with personalized attention and amazing food, I can’t recommend this...
