Not recommend to tourists that don’t know Japanese.
TLDR- The service was not just lacking, i felt disrespected where basic courtesy of service was not met.
For those that have time:
We arrived before 730 pm and and quickly ordered a hana set (7800) to make sure we get food asap, then we added the bibimbap yukhoe roast beef (1500) and ryukyu pork “aguu” fatty pork(1200) on top.
First the ryukyu pork came. It was amazing. Then the bibimbap came, the beef was raw. Totally to our surprise as the English dish name specifies roast beef. Server did not make attempts to explain at all. We didn’t complain, we happily ate it all up and waited for the Hana course to come.
Then we realized something was amiss so we followed up with the Hana set, only then did he tell us it was sold out, then we asked for Yuri (10000), and again it was like pulling teeth trying to get any service - yuri was also sold out…. I mean, he could have been clear from the moment we sat down to tell us that but he chose not to. I have a hunch it was not about English level since there are many ways to communicate.
Sensing that we were not welcome, we just added the Special Choice Ishigaki Brand Beef “Misuji” ( 4800). Just to make sure we had some beef. The meat was perfect portioned and those 4 pieces were the best beef i’ve had, though i was completed filled with just two pieces since they’re so fatty.
Anyway this was not a great experience regardless of the amazing food.
I’ll keep wondering if bibimbap yukhoe roast beef is intended to be raw beef or the order...
Read moreFor this price point, I would expect the staff to cook the meat for you. I was shocked that it was self-serve. The ishigaki beef and ryukyu pork were both amazing but because I am not a yakiniku expert, I overcooked one and undercooked the other. Ended up wasting 2/5 pieces of my ishigaki beef because it burnt to a crisp. You could say it is my fault but I asked the staff specifically how to cook it and no instructions were given, the stovetop was way too hot and the charcoal burnt the premium ishigaki beef, made me want to cry because the non-burnt ones were amazingly delicious. I ate one of the cooked pieces because I really didn't want to waste it, but it was so charcoal-y that it was probably toxic. One staff member was able to salvage 3 other pieces, but I really just think for such a high end restaurant the 60 seconds it takes to cook the meat should be included so that it is served with perfection. I am paying for cooked meat and not raw meat after all... Bad service but great meat choices. Will also add there is a 10% service charge, so all the more reason to...
Read moreExcellent yakinuki and a great place to go to enjoy choice cuts of Ishigaki beef which is a local beef from an island in Okinawa. You can order a la carte or from a set menu. We ended up going for the set as the menu can be a bit overwhelming if you have only come here for the first time. There is a lot of Korean style dishes on the menu as well such as Kimchi, Korean cold noodles, and bibimbap.
Food: 4.5 stars Service: 4 stars Value: 4 stars Overall: 4.25 stars Recommendations: Ishigaki misuji, ishigaki premium sirloin, bibimbap stone plate
The sets have three levels and if you choose to go with the set every one in your party will also need to order a set as well. They do let you mix and match sets so we went for the Hana set and the ultra premium set. The premium set is pricey at 15000 yen but some of the cuts of meat are really to die for. The choice sirloin Ishigaki cut is one of the best pieces of beef I have ever had. The bibimbap here is also really quite good and I would recommend ordering...
