It is a Buddhist Temple of the Pure Land Sect. Although the Temple may not have its religious uniqueness in temple structure or courtyard or deity sculptures, it is one of few Buddhist Temples, in Japan, which post "Free Visit" sign at its entrance.
Another uniqueness is that the Temple was built on former Female High School/ Home Economy Professional Female School site, and the High School was once shut down immediately after the war in 1945. Many students and former students of the school died in 1945 when U.S. Marine landed in Naha, Okinawa and when many of these female students were conscripted to serve as war nurses or injured soldiers' informal home cares and were either killed at the end of war or were to commit suicide when U.S. Marine landed.
