Everything was adequate but basic. |Was great to stay in a traditional ryokan, sleeping on tatami mats, communal bathing area etc. |However this place needs a bit of updating. Shared bathrooms need updating and smell a bit (although are very clean). Women have to walk past urinal to get to toilet. We were the only ones there so not a problem but if it was busy it could be awkward. |Also shared bathing area was clean but I don't think they have separate for men and women. |The rooms themselves are great. Good size, air-conditioned, TV and the beds were fine. I don't know if the rooms lock.|Dinner and breakfast were included - both were traditional Japanese fare and very tasty and plentiful (if you're not a fan of a fish for breakfast though you might go hungry). |The owners were lovely and although spoke limited English we were able to communicate...

Read moreIt is a great experience to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan (hotel) with simple rooms sleeping on futons and public bathing facilities, however the bathing rooms and ground floor toilets in this hotel are below standard and need renovation. The downstairs men's toilet smelt badly and the shared toilets upstairs meant females had to pass men urinating before reaching their toilets!||The owner was welcoming but cannot speak English and the food was ok. A western breakfast was very simple with little choice. We were taken to another restaurant nearby on our second night that was an exceptional Japanese dinner.||If this Ryokan was renovated and upgraded it could soon improve...
