I remember stumbling down the road after coming out of I Heart Yu with my hair wet and looking crazed, absolutely exhausted and just wanting something to eat when I came across this place. It was the best random decision I could've made - the dim, kitschy vintage atmosphere and low hum of the music (a lot of chill experimental fare, which I Shazam'd as much as I could of while shoving both the falafel and jerk chicken options into my face) are made even more dreamlike if you get a drink that Tee so kindly offers to mix for you (I got whiskey with soda water but I can't fully remember if it was soda water or ginger ale since I was buzzed immediately as it was the good stuff). I left fat, happy, and kinda zoned out, which is my preferred state of being anyway, with a whole new list of songs loaded up on my Shazam to listen to on the ride back to Takamatsu. This place is less than a 5 minute walk from both I Heart Yu and the port, and I wish I'd seen it earlier because I would've been coming here for every meal if I'd known. It's been 4 months since I've been to Kagawa as it was one of the last legs of my journey before moving from Japan back to Canada, but I had to come back to write a review as this restaurant is now somewhere that sits solidly at the front of my hippocampus to revisit when I get bored at my desk job. I remember this place very fondly, and I hope that, if you come here for a meal or drink, you...
Read moreTee's Deli was a great ad hoc cash-only dinner spot after a long day of biking and art, on an island that seems like it could be hard to come by a meal you don't have a reservation spot. Jerk chicken and falafel plates were filling, despite him mentioning they were small. Although, after all the walking biking and sweating we did, I was almost tempted to order another plate. It was so good! Also the vibes in this place are immaculate. Great music, he gave us a cool game to play that was like 3D connect four, and even though there was no AC, he apologized profusely and gave us some ice packs without even asking and told us to put them on our necks which cooled us off rapidly, along with our great guava juice and cold beer! Very friendly guy and so accommodating of everyone. Can't wait to get back to Naoshima and spend more of my time...
Read moreSo glad we found this place : everything was utterly immaculate. Firstly, the atmosphere: the vibes were perfect. Walking in, you hear old music playing out of a speaker. Lining the walls, you see countless old records stacked on top of each other, stickers, artworks, and other interesting artefacts. The lighting is so perfect, too. It just feels like your walking into an old friends home and chilling, further amplified by the cards and games he hands out for you to play as he makes the food
The service was great, it was just one guy but he managed to get the food out to us in no time at all. He was also friendly, and seemed really cool.
The food: OH. MY. GOD. Delicious. I had this vegan falafel thing and it tasted better than every other Greek I've been to combined. And the carrot sauce thing, amazing. Aparently the meat was...
