Satei Yusui — Restaurant in Nara

My daughter discovered this place when she was a 3rd grader in elementary school and we visited Nara. She loves Warabi Mochi and Satei Yusui has very good mochi at very good prices.

More than 5 years later, she remembered the route to get back to this great little restaurant, and she bee-lined straight for it, and we we able to enjoy it again.

Very patient staff, good menu, and nice calm atmosphere. Best of all, it located perfectly for those on that hike from Todaiji to Kasuga Taisha.

April 12th, 2023:

After a long morning of walking in Nara park, we encountered some rain and decided to cozy up in this place for some well deserved lunch.

We were greeted and served by this wonderful older lady. We enjoyed the Kitsune Udon Noodle soup she served with a giant Tofu in it. It was so good. The broth was something behold. The noodles were excellent but it's the broth that strikes gold. I've never had tofu like that before. All elements worked perfectly in unison.

I would love to visit this place again next adventure.

Delicious egg and tofu udon along with great warabi mochi to finish off! We came not expecting too much, but they kindly served some free Japanese rose tea to start and the udon was clean and extremely savory. We then finished with the warabi mochi set, never having tried it before. The waiter was extremely kind to show us how to eat it properly and it was the best finishing touch!
