Mizuya Chaya is an absolute delight, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! Nestled in the beautiful city of Nara, this charming little hut offers an unforgettable dining experience that’s not to be missed.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the cozy ambiance and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The decor exudes a rustic charm that perfectly complements the traditional Japanese dining experience. It’s clear that this place has a special character, making it a lovely spot to enjoy a meal.

This restaurant is a little hut sort of building literally located within the forest, on the way to the hill. There are some deer nearby and it has a cute little thatched roof.

They only have a few options in terms of the menu, but the prices are super affordable and they are so so quick with their service. We ordered, then I went to get some water and the meal came before I even got back to the table.

There is a big table around a centrepiece so you’ll probably sit side by side with others, which can also be a nice opportunity to chat with others if you like.

We got the tempura and the beef udon. It was a simple meal and quite nice. I’d say that the flavour could be a bit more exciting but overall, we enjoyed it.
