Came to Nara for a day trip and got caught in a rain storm. Came inside to escape the rain and the humidity in the Air Conditioned shop. AC blew too cold for my partner and the waiter noticed, he gave us some delicious green tea to warm up without prompting. The rain was only getting harder and it was threatening our day trip in Nara because we only had one small umbrella for the two of us. I think the same waiter who offered us green tea, noticed we were dejected from possibly losing a day of our vacation to a sudden rain storm and he gifted us an old umbrella so that we could continue our day! The staff’s hospitality is unmatched and I hope those who read this stop by and visit the shop on your way to...

You can enjoy delicious Japanese rice porridge and mugwort rice cakes either inside the restaurant or out in the garden. However, ordering in English can be a bit challenging. First, use the vending machine at the entrance to choose whether you’d like to sit inside or outside (in the garden), and to order and pay for your meal. There is little English guidance available during the ordering process, so it may take a moment to figure out. After that, place your receipt on your table, and the staff will bring your...

Nice place to hide away from the sun. Nice peach sorbet ( refreshing and not too sweet) and matcha ice cream (nice but slightly sweet) - the jelly is just…. Google translation error. (I thought it was mochi but turns out to be just agar-agar jelly)

The opening hour written there was 1030 but they open the doors 5 - 10 minutes late. We almost left as we thought...

Japan Food Guide! Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto - No Disappointments Guaranteed!!! 📸 **Kyoto - Jumondou** A must-try in Kyoto for mochi 🍡! Jumondou lets you taste all the flavors in one go, perfect for photos too. Mochi can be quite filling, so it can double as lunch. My favorite is the black one [😂] The photo shows two sets, averaging under ¥200 each, a bit pricey. 📸 **Tokyo - Takebei: Unagi Don** The unagi is grilled to perfection, not greasy at all. Seems pretty famous? Mostly elderly locals dine here. The photo shows an average of under ¥300 per person. Unagi sets vary by the amount of fish. 📸 **Tokyo - Kiyomura Sushi 🍣** Fresh fish, no difference from Tsukiji Market. Easy to find as a chain. The photo shows two sets, averaging ¥200+. 📸 **Osaka - Marugame Udon** Tired of Japanese bone broth ramen? Try their udon! Clear broth and chewy thick noodles. They also have various tempura, I got the vegetable one, huge piece, tasty and affordable. 📸 **Kyoto - Taiju (Arashiyama)** Eaten while visiting Arashiyama, specializes in sea bream. Two sets with different cooking methods, both shown here, raw and cooked, both worth trying. Though the portions look small, they fill you up. Averaging ¥200+. 📸 **Kyoto - Orange Wagashi (Arashiyama)** Enticed by the high颜值, I went in. Cool, jelly-like wagashi that melts in your mouth, not greasy. 📸 **Tokyo - Daikokuya Tempura** Crispy texture, I prefer light flavors, so the soy sauce version was too strong for me, the soup was salty too. Large portions, ended up not finishing. Worth a visit for tempura lovers. Averaging under ¥200. 📸 **Nara - Kasugano Tea House** A random stop, the chilled noodle set was decent, three ways to eat it, the noodles were fine and smooth! 📸 **Tokyo, Osaka - Isomaru Suisan** Fresh, cheap, and tasty, many recommend it. Personally, I didn't like the crab bowl, too salty and sweet, not much crab flavor. Fresh scallops and clam soup with cream and white wine were good. Seafood rice bowl was cheap and generous, averaging ¥150-200.
