I really wanted to enjoy my last sushi meal before takeoff. The moment I arrived I had a bad feeling - I think it was the bigger built chef that just was in a foul mood. He was just plain rude. Only sushi was available which is fine but since only I wanted to eat and my daughter didn’t I asked if it was okay we shared. I got a terse, “No sharing. One order each.” Okay…and he was just plain not having it. After barking at me, he barked at someone else. One patron came in when the restaurant had five patrons (less than half the seats taken) and he was like you need to wait 20 min. Just didn’t understand the logic as there were two sushi chefs and it wasn’t like we were super busy. Anyway, would have been understandable if it was because of Japanese work ethics, but I just think he was in a bad mood and taking it out on us. Even my sashimi was sad, water from his wet hands were on my plate and my wasabi was watery. The final kicker though was the coke we ordered, which was 450 yen. It came with 5 pieces of huge ice so I asked them whether the coke was the entire can. He said to me, “no, half a can.” I said so I only get half a can? He said “yes.” So I paid 450 yen for half a can but had I bought it to go from their same shop, I pay 370 yen for a full can. Hmmmm…go figure.
