An adorable little shop. My family and I stopped here last year when we were in Japan and I purchased a beautiful pair of chopsticks, however, I lost them somewhere on the journey home. Returning to this shop and getting another pair of chopsticks (among other hand crafted wood artwork and pottery) was a major contributing factor to why we decided to return to Nikko on this year’s trip.
The shop is owned by a lovely family, who are very helpful (neither my wife or I speak Japanese) and I am sure you will find something worth buying. Grab a coffee while you’re here as well!

The cafe is on the upper floor with a nice view to the river across the street, and was a cozy spot to warm up on a cold day. The owner was welcoming and kind. I ordered the matcha cake set (880 yen) — a beautiful layered dessert with matcha, red bean paste and a light cream top, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The coffee was excellent as well.
