A rare gem of a café, carefully put together by its creative owner. As per the apt description, the dishes are camping-inspired, and they are painstakingly crafted right before your eyes, served in the pans they were made in (spoiler alert: they were delicious).
The owner may not speak English, but has everything ready to welcome English speakers including menus and a comprehensive local area guide (with links to detailed Google maps walks).
He also just makes you feel right at home! The space is just so inviting and calming and even though we had to wait for a while, it was not an issue. The photographs, magazines, manga books and overall décor (I counted 6 cameras hanging about the walls!) made for a very pleasant experience (almost reminiscent of a scene out of a Miyazaki movie).

The Cafe is nicely decorated and shows the owners passion for photography too, with photos of Onomichi. The place is situated right next to the train line so you can see the local trains pass by which adds to the charm.
We had the camping breakfast with coffee which is very reasonably priced as a set. The food was delicious and sensibly sized. The camping set is served directly in a pan and served with traditional japanese camping spices.
