Gimmiya Shin-Osaka — Restaurant in Osaka

Very excited walking into the establishment second we walked in we were laughed at by the receptionist, even though we were respectful we were laughed at a couple times which felt pretty condescending. Also 1 of us ordered a 100g steak (most expensive one $50 aud) we were not warned on the menu or by staff that it was not 100g but instead it was 165g making it $82.75. We were also not given the choice to cook the steaks ourselves adding a ‘medium-rare’ cost. ?? Why were we not warned?? Also in the course meal 4 of us had Sushi coming, however one had ordered sushi separately and they didn’t warn us that they were separate (portions were tiny so obviously we didn’t expect the dishes to be on the same plate) we then proceeded to ask where the other sushi was (politely) then the response was that it was on the way and it never came. We felt very rushed to leave and the receptionist was quite rude. I love Japanese food and Japanese culture but this restaurant made me feel as if we were taken advantage of and frowned upon. We have been in a lot of places but i can assure you we never had such an amazing meal as the one we had today. Every element in the menu was carefully thought trough. Add to that the quality of the ingredients the kindness of the service and the lovely atmosphere, and you have an unforgettable memory. If you go, we recomend to go with one of the menu options. We choose the one of 10 000 yen, since we were there might as well have a full experience. The meat was the best we have had in our life. It is completely something else than to have prime cuts somewhere else. Our waiter was extremely helpful, spoke really good English and made our dinner very enjoyable! If you’re foreign, don’t not come here at all. I said thank you in Japanese and they laughed at me. The staff was very unfriendly and had a bad aroma around them. I will give it to them though, the atmosphere is nice and some of the food is good. However, i was taken advantage of because of my race. I ordered a $50 dollar steak for 100g which was clearly stated on the menu. After paying however, they charged me $82 and I was not told anything about being given a more 50% larger steak or anything about a significant price increase. I was then hurried out of the door after I paid, and I heard them laughing at me as I left. I had high hopes for this place, but I was extremely disappointed with the way I was treated.
