An excellent 4-star hotel, in a prime location. It is less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel lobby to the Shin Osaka station entrance (NE corner of the station, next to the McDonalds).
If you are staying in Osaka and are planning on taking day trips from the city using the Shinkansen, the hotel’s location cannot be beat. That is probably one of the main reasons that the hotel is VERY popular with tourists.
Being so close to Shin Osaka station, connectivity to public transportation to/from Osaka is excellent. Using the Osaka Metro, it takes around 20 minutes to reach central Osaka (Namba station).
There are multiple eateries/cafes in Shin Osaka station, as well as a convenience store (7-Eleven).
The hotel staff were very welcoming and professional. English is widely understood and spoken by the staff.
Other than the room itself, I did not use the other hotel amenities, nor did I have breakfast/lunch/dinner at the hotel.
The modern and tastefully decorated room was very spacious by Japanese standards. The 1-king sized bedroom type came with 2 tables and ample storage space.
My room faced the east side. No real view to speak of apart from nearby buildings.
The room safe is large enough to fit a 15” laptop.
The room’s king-sized bed was very comfortable.
The Wi-Fi worked well. The TV station options offered were mostly in Japanese.
The bathroom was standard sized. The washlet was modern and easy to use. The bathtub/shower head were fine. The water pressure was good.
At ~250 USD a night (not including breakfast), I found the price to be reasonable, given the hotel’s location and quality of the room.
In summary, I had an excellent stay and would recommend this hotel as the place to call home when visiting...
Read moreLocation, location, location We selected Marriott Courtyard Shin-Osaka because it is connected to the Shin-Osaka Train Station via walkway. The hotel has 19 floors with maybe 20 rooms per floor. We had reserved 2 king bed rooms and requested they be connecting or interconnected rooms. We arrived at 2pm and were told we had to wait until 3pm for our rooms. The small lobby was already full of half a dozen other guests waiting on the limited seating for their rooms and a huge section was roped off and full of luggage. At 3pm we were given 1 of our 2 smallish king bed rooms side by side (not connecting) on Floor 10. We were told we had to wait another hour for our 2nd room. We were also informed that we had complimentary breakfast for 2 people even though we had 2 rooms with a total of 4 people – they wanted to charge us an additional ¥7,300 or $51.60 for breakfast for the other 2 people in our group. We went to our 1 room to rest and received the key to the 2nd room maybe 30 minutes later. The beds were comfortable, the water pressure was good and the wifi was strong. The executive lounge was not worth anything and the breakfast provided was dismal. The Lavarock complimentary breakfast was impressive with a very large selection of fresh food – eggs are made to order and brought to your table, udon is do it yourself and everything else is self serve. We would stay here again because it’s so well located but we were unhappy about the delay getting into our rooms, not getting connecting rooms (while not guaranteed it certainly would have helped make up for the delay), the attempted charge for 2 more breakfasts even though we had 2 rooms for a party of 4 and the truly disappointing...
