We stumbled upon this place accidentally and we're so glad we did! Everything about this place was absolutely incredible!
The food was so delicious. They are known for their giant (but very reasonably priced) unagi and tamogoyaki rice bowl (as you can see in the picture). The unagi is sweet, soft and grilled to perfection. The egg is fluffy and a perfect complement to both the unagi and rice. If you can't finish the rice (which is 4 times the normal portion), they will make rice balls for you from the leftovers!
I would also highly recommend their yakitori and chawanmushi. All the yakitori sticks were juicy and delicious. The chawanmushi was cooked and served in some type of chicken broth. If you're adventurous, I also recommend the basashi (horse meat sashimi) as well! It is thinly-sliced and sweet with the given sauce.
We had a wonderful time at Izumo Unagi. The atmosphere was homely and the staff were friendly and kind. You can scan the QR code on the table for the English menu and order your dishes from their website; they will serve it to your table. Overall, a 10/10 experience and I would highly recommend stopping by if you're in Osaka!

If you're looking for a restaurant that specializes in unagi without breaking the bank, this place is a true find. The unagi here is grilled to perfection—rich in flavor with a distinct, smoky aroma from the charcoal grill that hits you the moment it’s served. Unlike many places where the sauce can be overly sweet, this one strikes a perfect balance, letting the natural flavor of the eel shine through.
The accompanying tamago (egg) is incredibly fluffy and light, a nice contrast to the rich eel. Every serving is generous, making it great value—especially when you consider how expensive unagi usually is at other eateries we passed by.
The restaurant is cozy with tasteful décor that enhances the dining experience. The chef and staff are warm and welcoming, adding a personal touch that makes the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, this spot offers high-quality unagi at a reasonable price, and it’s a must-try for anyone who appreciates good eel dishes without the usual...
Read moreCame in around 7PM on a weekday. No line at this time so I was able to walk right in. FYI, after 5PM they include an extra charge (300 something yen) which comes with a small appetizer. The appetizer they gave me was a broccoli salad with fish. They also require you to order 1 food item and 1 drink per person. The host/server notified me with a sign at the door before sitting down. The food itself was pretty good: rice was soft, egg fluffy, unagi crispy on the outside and good flavor. I could not finish it all so I asked them to pack it togo. Note: the egg cannot be packed and needs to be eaten at the restaurant. Overall it was a good experience, however I do think all the requirements are a bit too much. Would be nice to be able to come in and just order what you want without all the unnecessary extras. Maybe come before 5 to avoid the appetizer charge, however there will likely be a longer wait then. Cashless payment only, accepts credit card, no Apple Pay...
