I’m amazed at how well Japan does as a country in the face of labor shortages. On entering the restaurant, a vending machine and electronic displays take the place of waitstaff. We received a ticket with a table number and the displays helped navigate to where our table was.
Ordering was by way of multilingual tablet and food delivered by high speed conveyor belt.
Sushi quality was pretty good considering the low prices. There were even several “aged sushi” or “jukusei sushi” which I’ve never seen in one of these fast food type sushi restaurants. The variety of offering was shocking as well well. It rivaled most of the sushi restaurants I’ve been to in Tokyo in terms of variety with some unusual offerings. There are also several non-sushi options for those who are sushi lovers e.g. noodles, fried chicken, vegetable plates.
The portion sizes were a little smaller than I’m used to, but not unexpected for ¥125 -¥250 per plate and we did cause a bit of a logjam due to the sheer quantity that we ordered due to our outsized Alaskan appetites. We still managed to feed a family of 6 for ¥15000...
