Yayoiken Midosuji Shin-Osaka Station — Restaurant in Osaka

Located just a 1-2 minute walk away from the south exit (Midosuji line) of Shin-osaka station. This is one of those restaurants where you place youe order on a touch screen machine. There is an option to change the menu to English so that was helpful for us. The ordering process was fairly self explanatory &the food prices seemed reasonable. Steamed rice, water & green tea & Japanese pickles are available at a self serve station for free. The food was decent...nothing to write home about but it was good enough. Had the regular sized fried chicken teishoku here and it was excellent. It came out hot, very crispy, and pretty quickly after I ordered it.

The staff is also very helpful and friendly. One of them even explained the self service drink station to me in English. Another staff member helped me get brown rice tea after I couldn't figure out how to use the dispenser.

Lovely, quiet place with delicious, authentic Japanese cuisine. Free self-service pickles, ice water & unlimited rice refills so long as, you order rice or a set meal with rice. Very reasonable, cheap fed. The best thing about the experience is, you gotta get your prepaid coupon from the machine to give to the waiter.
