Genghis Khan BBQ is a must-try culinary experience that many travel books recommend when visiting this northern region of Japan. After a bit of searching, I found the original branch of this restaurant, only to discover a long queue of eager diners. I estimated it would take at least a couple of hours before I could get a table. However, a quick Google search revealed that they had several other branches. Finally, I happily found a branch called "6.4" that had no queue at all.
Upon entering, I noticed lockers where customers could store their belongings, ensuring that the tantalizing smell of grilled meat wouldn't cling to our clothes. Since the menu was entirely in Japanese, and I couldn't read it, I resorted to pointing at the meats and beer to place my order.
The grilling at this restaurant was done with a large iron plate over charcoal, giving the lamb a distinct smoky flavor. The meat was incredibly tender and had no unpleasant odor. The combination of perfectly grilled meat and a cold glass of Sapporo beer was simply delightful.
If you find yourself in Sapporo, I highly recommend indulging in this culinary delight and discovering the unique flavors of...
Read moreI went to this restaurant twice for my holiday. First experience was quite good. Honestly the food is excellent.BUT the problem has happen today. it was the worst experience ever in Sapporo. A staff who is working at Daruma 6.4 made me unpleasant. She threw small dishes and shouted at us “ottosi(お通し)”. Actually i already knew it but just wondered if we can cancel to order “ottosi” at that time(i heard that ottosi is forced on everyone in Japan whenever you order alcohol). So i asked her about that. Less than a sec, she shouted out “Japanese culture!!!!!!”. What a rude waitress! One more thing, when i ordered onions she threw wet onions on our grill. The vegetables was burned with black smoke. Whatever everyone, be careful on her. She was wearing glasses with black frames, looked 30s and a little on heavy side. So f**kin rude waitress!!! Never yell at...
Read moreI went around 8pm and waited less than 5 min to go in alone. I really liked the dimly lit atmosphere at night! The meat is good, but the portion is small. You only get a few small pieces of meat per order (which were ~2300yen each I think). Kimchi is extra, but trust me, it's an essential part of the meal. You're also going to come out smelling like smoke, so plan for this to be your last stop of the day.
Overall, food was delicious (the lamb had no odor and had a nice texture), but came out pretty pricey for what it is at ~6000yen. If you eat a lot, two orders definitely won't fill you up so expect to spend more. Still, I would recommend Daruma since it's kind of a...
