Unamei — Restaurant in Sapporo

Great and fresh unagi but service was really lacking, especially considering we are paying premium here.

If you are a family with kids, we especially wouldn’t recommend you to eat at this establishment. First, they don’t provide child seats. Second, we were told to keep the children volume down which we did try to get our kid to lower their volume upon their request (understandably since the place is small and noise level will be amplified). However, the part that made us question the service level of this establishment was when the 2 tables of Japanese behind us talked at an even louder volume level than us (not once but multiple times during our entire duration there) and yet there was nothing that was done by the people in the establishment to ask them to lower the volume.

Be your own judge if this is truly somewhere where you can enjoy both Japanese food and...

We stumbled in on a whim over lunch and without a reservation. We were lucky that they had an empty table. We were even more lucky to have tasted this restaurant’s wonderful unagi. Perfectly prepared and beautifully presented, the price tag is worth the taste.

With only six 4-seater tables in the restaurant, a reservation is highly recommended.

Made a reservation the day before heading down to avoid having to queue.

I ordered a small unagi bento. They come in 3 sizes and you can also choose the size of rice (small, medium or large) to go with it. I regretted not getting the medium sized unagi as it’s really good!

The only downside is the price but tasty food...
