Owl Cafe Ricky — Restaurant in Sendai

I felt conned.. if you are looking for many animals, don't go here. We went there today with expectations of the photos as advertised. We walked into the room, can't call it a cafe because no human food or coffee is served here, and we're greeted by two very enthusiastic otters and that was all. The tables and chairs were still upside down, the interior was tired and warn. There was definitely a potent musky smell, but that was expected. The girl at the counter tried hard to explain what she could offer, my Japanese isn't that advanced so with Google translate it went a bit better. it was around 2000y pp and I added feeding the otters for 500y. We thought that there was another room with the rest of the animals, or that they would bring them in. But no, it was 2 otters and a lonely owl. And that was it.. the otters enjoyed playing with our laces, one became a bit too enthusiastic with the tug of war with my laces and bit my ankle. No real harm done though, and they do warn you before you go in that they can bite. Feeding the otters is giving then 2 little fish with kitchen tongs. Yes sir was fun to see otters running around your legs and chasing your laces, but it is nowhere the animal interactive Cafe it is advertising to be.. Was...

Encontramos este lugar de casualidad debido a que su ubicación es muy austera y tampoco tiene mucha publicidad en su entrada para poder reconocer el lugar a simple vista, además no sabiamos si estaba abierto o cerrado pero decidimos subir a su 4to piso y chequear si estaba abierto. Tuvimos mucha suerte ya que estaba abierto y nos recibieron de manera muy amable, nos explicaron el proceso y debido a que mi pareja es estudiante nos hicieron un descuento después de mostrar la tarjeta que acredita que efectivamente es estudiante. El lugar es muy austero y humilde pero muy bien cuidado. Las 2 chicas que atendían eran muy atentas y atendían cualquier requerimiento de los clientes. Mi recomendación es que si sos una persona muy empática que no puede ver animales encerrados o enjaulados, mejor no vayas pero si querés disfrutar de tocar animales exóticos y pasar un buen momento, este lugar es para vos. Los animales están muy bien cuidados y la experiencia de tocarlos es muy alucinante. Además muchos niños disfrutando la experiencia y ver niños muy felices significa que el lugar es excelente. Con mi pareja tuvimos la experiencia de tocar por primera vez buhos, una serpiente y hasta una iguana enorme, sin contar el pequeño loro y las enormes tortugas que se movían libremente. Además tuvimos una bebida gratis (No ofrecen comida ni bebidas calientes pero es algo obvio para proteger a los animales ante daños posibles). En lo personal me encantó poder tocar un animal tan exótico como lo es una serpiente pero también hay geckos, lagartos, mas serpientes, conejos, muchisimas aves, tortugas, iguanas, etc. Repito nuevamente, el lugar es muy humilde y austero pero podés disfrutar de una experiencia única disfrutando de animales exóticos, RECOMIENDO ESTE LUGAR DE MANERA EFUSIVA y si nunca tocaste una serpiente o una iguana o incluso un conejo, nose que estas esperando para ir jaja. Espero disfruten del lugar tanto cómo nosotros lo hicimos. Pagamos por una hora pensando que nos ibamos a aburrir y nos arrepentimos ya que no tuvimos tiempo de poder interactuar con mas animalitos. Conveniently located outside Aobadori Ichibancho station, this owl cafe has an impressive parliament of beautiful owls from around the world and a few small hawks too! (They also have a micropig 🐖 - or just a small pig, I'm not sure.)
