Takeya Shokudo — Restaurant in Sendai

I should have known this was going to be an amazing restaurant when my wife and I had to wait a half hour on a Monday night. We were visiting from the US, and we just tried this restaurant on a whim after a search for restaurants close to our hotel.

For those who aren't from Japan (or aren't familiar with this restaurant), there are lockers in the front of the restaurant, and you have to take your shoes off and put them in a locker. You then take a numbered wooden thing that will unlock the locker to retrieve your shoes when you leave.

I know ma po tofu is a Chinese dish, but I had to order it, because I really like it a lot. It came out still piping hot and bubbling. It was really amazing. I also had chicken skewers, which were on point. We had lemon sours to drink, and other assorted sours. Sours are a drink kind of unique to Japan, it seems. We don't really see them in America.

Oh, and also, the menu is all in Japanese. You'll have to use Google Translate on your phone at the very least, and it helps if you have someone who speaks some Japanese with you. They have at least one guy who speaks English, which is convenient, but I was able to order everything in my elementary school...

We didn't book but the very friendly guy at the door managed to find us two seats. There is normally a line at the door because this place is popular. Take your shoes off inside the door and place them in a locked locker. Had seating at the counter. There were also seats on the floor in separate booths. The service was excellent, especially the guy who showed us in and took our orders. His English was good and he explained the dishes. Food came out quick. The chicken skewers were delicious, as were the two set meals. Great atmosphere. Very reasonable price and this included drinks too. Well worth visiting, especially if you are around the Sendai Station area....

2025年04月13日にランチで13:00くらいに訪問しました。 今日も豚汁から揚げ定食の大盛り。 安定のおいしさですね。 おいしくいただきました。 ごちそうさまでした。

2025年01月05日にランチで13:55くらいに訪問しました。 この時間でも営業しているのでありがたいですね。 1人でしたのでカウンターにスムーズに着席できました。 「野菜たくさんの豚汁と銀鮭の塩焼き定食」を注文しました。 銀鮭の塩焼きは、脂がのってます。皮までうまいです。 豚汁は、あつあつたっぷりで具沢山です。 ご飯大盛りは＋20円です。 満足なお昼ご飯になりました。 おいしくいただきました。 ごちそうさまでした。

2024年11月02日にランチで12:40分くらいに訪問しました。 雨の日の土日は、一人だとスムーズにカウンターに座れることがあります。 「鶏からサバフライの小豚汁定食、ご飯大盛り」 を注文しました。 鶏から揚げは、安定のおいしさです。自家製ラー油をのせるのが好きです。 サバフライは1個、半分ずつソースとおろしぽん酢でいただきました。 小豚汁はあつあつ具沢山で、こちらにも自家製ラー油を入れるのが好きです。 おいしくいただきました。 ごちそうさまでした。

2024年09月15日にランチで12:50くらいに訪問。 雨のせいか、たまたまか、3人なのに待たずに着席できました。 ラッキーですね。 「トロタクしらす丼と若鶏から揚げ（香味ネギダレ）とミニ豚汁定食」を注文しました。 トロタクは、タクアンの食感がよいですね。 から揚げは、香味ネギダレがたっぷりです。 ミニ豚汁は、安定のおいしさです。 同行者の「海老と豚肉の旨醤油焼きそば」もとてもおいしかったと話してました。 同行者の一人が配膳されるくらいのタイミングで戻らなければならないことになり、配膳された定食（豚汁から揚げ定食）をテイクアウトにできるか店員さんに相談しました。急なお願いに上手くテイクアウトにまとめて頂きました。対応がすてきですね。 食べ終わる頃には店内での待ちの方がいました。 やっぱり人気店ですね。 おいしくいただきました。 ごちそうさまでした。

2024年08月24日にランチで13:30くらいに訪問。 待ち名簿に記入して5分くらい待ちました。 人気店ですね。 日替わりの「海鮮しらす丼と鶏から揚げとミニとん汁の定食」のご飯大盛り（＋20円）を注文しました。 どれも満足です。 おいしくいただきました。 ごちそうさまでした。

2024年05月17日ランチ訪問。 13時15分くらいで一人でしたのでスムーズに入店できました。ラッキーです。 いつものように「野菜たくさん豚汁と鶏から揚げ定食」ご飯大盛りを注文。 待っている間にドリンクバーに行きます。 豚汁はどんぶりで出てきます。あつあつです。 から揚げは大ぶりが3個。 から揚げも豚汁も途中で自家製ラー油をかけて食べるのがすきです。なかなか辛いのでむせないようにご注意を。 安定のおいしさです。 おいしくいただきました。 ごちそうさまでした。

2024年01月26日ランチ訪問。 今日で4回目です。3回連続で「とんじる唐揚げ定食」でしたが、今日は日替わり「お肉」と「麺」のうちお肉の日替わり定食にしました。 ぶたロースカツの梅下ろしと刺身小鉢。 早速、刺身小鉢をご飯に乗せてミニ海鮮丼にしてから食べ始めました。しっかり量のあるわさびで、なかなかツンときます。一度の量はご注意して下さい。 カツもしっかり一人前です。 ドリンクはセルフです。今日は「マスカットジュース」と「ホットコーヒー」を頂きました。 人気店でタイミングによっては外に並んでいることがあります。 店員さんがキビキビとして見てて気持ちいいです。 とんじるは具沢山であったまり、おすすめです。 おいしくいただきました...
