Tanya Zenjirou — Restaurant in Sendai

When I heard that one of Sendai's specialties was beef tongue, I was stunned. To be honest, I wasn't stoked to try it, but had to find out why it was a specialty and why so many people liked it. When I arrived at Sendai Station, I found the tourist information center and asked about the beef tongue. One of the people who helped me recommended this restaurant, Zenjirou, so I went to give it a try.

The place was full. It was definitely popular. I was seated, the restaurant had a bit of dim lights, and I ordered a meal set that included the beef tongue (If you look at the photos I attached, I ordered the meal set priced at 1,850 JPY). Once the beef tongue came out, I grabbed it, expected the worst, and tried it.

Wow, was I stunned. "How can a beef tongue taste so moist, soft, and flavourful?" I asked myself. I expected a tough, chewy meat, but thankfully that wasn't the case. I tried the beef toungue with the rice and side dishes, and man, it was great. I almost placed a second order. Also, the set comes with a side of soup too. Definitely check this place out if...

This branch is located on the 1st floor of the building. I find this branch has less que than the one inside the station. We came on a weekday lunch and theres hardly any que. We waited around 10 minutes before we were seated at the counter (2 pax). I ordered the 4 pc thick cut gyutan and my wife ordered their thin slices gyutan. She prefers the thin slices, but i prefer the thick cut for their extra chew. However both are very good. The gyutan set came with a salad and soup. Pairs very well with the main dish. Gyutan is exceptional, well seasoned and cooked just right. The char on the ourside and the tenderness of the cut, just melts in your mouth. This is just one of the many gyutan restaurants in Sendai and there are plenty of other shops with higher review. I highly recommend to try them all if you can. I would do it if i could stay...

Fine food with traditional decorations, good ambience. Staff is polite and nice. Must try their signature dishes, roastes beef tongue. 3 kinds of sets vary for different part of tongue, it includes soup,rice, salad, pickle and roasted beef tongue. You can also choose how many pieces for your set. The meat is so soft and with the fragrance of charcoal, you even feel like melting in your mouth, very delicious, Oishiiii ❤️😋 There's a shop next to the restaurant, selling all the food serves from the restaurant.
